Brain Awareness Week, 11th – 15th March
We invite you to the week-long event Brain Awareness Week, which will take place from March 11th to March 15th, 2024, titled “Wanna go somewhere private?”.
Another year has come around, and once again, we invite you to the week-long event Brain Awareness Week, which will take place from March 11th to March 15th, 2024, titled “Wanna go somewhere private?”.
We will start the week by exploring love and what happens in the brains of animals and humans during this time. We will touch upon sociological perspectives in understanding sexuality and delve into some heavier topics such as vaginismus, sexual abuse, adolescent sexual function issues, sexually transmitted infections, and more. We will commemorate the World Brain Day and listen to the latest discoveries from current research, such as neuronal metabolic coupling, vagus nerve stimulation in Parkinson’s disease, sleep apnea, and circadian rhythms. The week will conclude with a roundtable where guests will discuss the origins of sexual attraction, aesthetics and body image, the role of biology in partner selection, and more.
Throughout the week, lectures will be accompanied by various workshops for children and adults on topics such as pelvic floor muscle exercises, sexuality, and growing up in individuals with developmental disorders. You will also have the opportunity to attend film screenings followed by discussions with selected guests.
The entire program is available on our website, where you can also find instructions for workshop registration.
All events will be held live, with most events this year taking place for the first time at the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana (Jamova street 39). Parallel programs with individual events will also take place in Maribor, Koper, Novo mesto, and Tolmin. All events will be held in Slovene language.
