Call for Applications: Sinapsa Scholarship Fund 2025

A call for applications is now open for SiNAPSA scholarships, designed to support active participation in international conferences, summer schools, and short-term research visits.

Scholarships are available for:

  • Active participation in international conferences: Reimbursement of travel expenses, accommodation costs, and registration fees up to €500, for presenting your research work as a poster or lecture at international neuroscience conferences.
  • Active participation in a summer school: Reimbursement of travel expenses, accommodation costs, and registration fees up to €500, for attending a summer school or scientific-educational workshop, where the program and schedule indicate active engagement between participants and instructors.
  • Short educational or research visits to a recognized foreign institution: Reimbursement of travel expenses and accommodation costs up to €1.500, for acquiring new methods, enhancing research, and refining technical skills.

The scholarships are intended for events that will take place in this calendar year. Due to the organization of the SiNAPSA neuroscience conference, only one call for applications will be published this year.

Eligible expenses:

SiNAPSA scholarships are calculated and paid based on the actual costs of approved trips. If the actual costs exceed the approved scholarship amount, only the approved amount will be paid. The calculation of expenses and payment is carried out after the trip is completed, based on original receipts for approved expenses. Submitted invoices must be issued in the name of the scholarship recipient and their home address or to SiNAPSA.

Eligibility criteria for SiNAPSA Scholarship Fund funding:

  • the candidate must be an active member of SiNAPSA (or has submitted the membership application
    over a year ago)

scientific conference, an educational meeting, or training abroad, for which they must submit proof
  • the candidate must be an undergraduate or graduate student
  • the candidate must submit a complete application no later than the stated deadline

The application deadline is March 28, 2025. After the call for applications closes, a three-member committee will decide on the allocation of scholarships and notify the candidates by April 11, 2025. Submit your applications via email with attachments to: stipendije@sinapsa.org. The committee will not consider incomplete applications.

  • evidence of active participation in SiNAPSA projects and activities, regardless of membership status and duration (participation in society activities preceding formal membership status is also considered)

Criteria for evaluation:

Priority is given to younger candidates with more publications in international journals, or candidates who were active in research during undergraduate studies and do not have other dedicated funding to cover expenses.
